New retail precinct launches in Perth
The launch marks the completion of the extensive overhaul of Mirvac’s flagship West Australian office tower, Allendale Square, and its underground retail precinct.
“The completion of the refurbishment at Allendale Square is a significant milestone, which showcases our commitment to Perth to provide an exceptional working environment and office precinct for tenants and the community now and into the future,” said Andrew Butler, Mirvac’s group executive of office MPT.
As part of the refurbishment, two glass retail podiums have been created along St George’s Terrace, with Perth’s Mary Street Bakery taking the prime position as their second CBD store.
Opening its first stores in Perth, Soul Origin and Crafty Cuts will commence trading at Underground in late 2017.
Other new retailers opening in the 2,250sqm precinct include Authentic Bites Dumpling House, Mo Espresso, Lee’s Kitchen, Freshii, Arirang, Chicken Rice Corner, Happy Nails, Timeless Beauty and Fabric Spa. Retailers that have returned to the space include Lalla Rookh Bar and Eating House, Bellini Barber, Lunches Down Under and Zensaki.
The entrance to the office building has been upgraded with a glass canopy designed by local architect, Christou Design Group who also revitalised the Sherwood Court entrance to encourage pedestrian movement to and from the Swan River, Elizabeth Quay and Allendale Square.
Mirvac said to further activate the public plaza, a piece of artwork by Anne Neil was installed in May 2017. The artwork celebrates the rich history of Perth’s CBD and is inspired by the trees that were once along the Swan River.
The upgrade of Allendale Square has contributed to the revitalisation of Perth’s CBD through improved pedestrian linkages from St Georges Terrace to Elizabeth Quay, creating a bustling thoroughfare with access to major transport hubs in the city.
