Uniqlo making move to Melbourne’s west

uniqloJapanese fast fashion chain Uniqlo has today announced it will open its fifth Victorian store at Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s west.

Owned by Fast Retailing, Uniqlo said the store comes as part of the global casual apparel retailer’s commitment to expanding its Australian operation.

The Highpoint store marks the retailer’s second store in Melbourne’s western suburbs and its fifth store in Victoria and will feature the fashion retailers full range for men, women, children and babies.

Set over a sale floor area of 867sqm in the GPT-owned centre’s recently developed mall, the store will sit alongside several international and Australian brands.

Kenji Tsuji, chief operating officer, Uniqlo Australia, said he believes the new store will help bring more international fashion to the doorstep of local shoppers located in the west of Melbourne.

“We’ve seen strong demand for a Uniqlo store at Highpoint Shopping Centre, so we’re thrilled to finally confirm we’ll be opening a store this summer to expand our offering in Melbourne’s West,” he said.

“Our suburban growth strategy is still very much a focus following the overwhelmingly positive response from our Australian customers to date,” continued Tsuji

Highpoint will mark the retailer’s 14th store in Australia, with its 13th location due to open October 5 at Chermside in Queensland.

Uniqlo’s other Victorian stores are located at Emporium Shopping Centre, Chadstone Shopping Centre, Eastland Shopping Centre and Pacific Werribee Shopping Centre.

Commenting on the announcement, GPT regional general manager, Rachel Duggan, said “will certainly be a welcome addition to the centre this summer”.
