Acquistion for The Co-op

 

The Co-op E-learningUniversity bookstore operator, The Co-op, has acquired of the assets of The Information Specialists and its subsidiaries DA Information Services (DAIS) and Central Book Services.

With the acquisition of DAIS, the Co-op is now one of the largest locally based full service academic library suppliers.

“This acquisition presents the Co-op with the opportunity to combine and expand our corporate sales business unit to become a market leader among library suppliers in Australia,” said Thorsten Wichtendahl, the Co-op’s COO.

By harnessing the assets and capabilities of DA Information Services, the Co-op plans to become the leading provider of tertiary books to both students and academic libraries nationally, both with physical books as well as in online solutions.

“The solid library supply business DAIS has built over its very respected 62 years has all the requirements our customers are demanding, including the ability to offer a range of institutional licences and the ability to work with multiple library management systems,” Wichtendahl said.

The Co-op has a team of 15 corporate sales representatives servicing libraries and corporate clients.
