ADVERTORIAL: Williams-Sonoma CEO to address conference

Laura Alber, president and CEO of Williams-Sonoma, has been confirmed as one of the keynote speakers at Retail World 2013.

The American homewares giant, best known for the Pottery Barn brand, will address delegates at the revamped retail event, coinciding with the company’s first Australian store opening at Sydney’s Bondi Junction.

Alber will be joined on the keynote stage by Ram Charan, the man Fortune Magazine has called ‘the most influential consultant alive’, plus a host of international and local retail leaders, under a reinvigorated conference concept, in Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, May 13 to 14, 2013.

Event organisers are promising the refreshed conference model will allow for Retail World to regain its crown as the only industry event to attend each year.

“The industry has been calling for a break from the norm for a while now,” says Craig Macfarlane, CEO of Association and Communications Events, the organiser of Retail World conference and trade show.

“We wanted to offer delegates something more than the typical retail conference and so, after much discussion and research with the market, we have come up with a new format which really offers something for everyone.

“The venue will be a real hive of activity, with some really great speakers already lined up and all the latest retail technologies on show, plus about 1000 visitors passing through over the course of the two days.”

Association and Communications Events (ACvents) recently announced that it had merged with former-competitor, Terrapinn Australia (another conference organiser)

“Terrapinn run the largest Cards & Payments conference and exhibition in Australasia, with many of the attendees coming from the retail sector. So it made sense to merge this with our own Retail World event,” said Craig Macfarlane, CEO of ACEvents.
