German online aggregator, Delivery Hero, has secured almost $100 milllion in venture capital funding.

The online retailer will use the whopping sum to invest in existing markets, including Australia.

Delivery Hero was founded in Berlin in 2010 by a group of online entrepreneurs.

It works by aggregating food retailers, such as Dominos or the local Thai restaurant, in one central place.

Orders and payments can be placed online, and restaurants can be peer-reviewed.

Delivery Hero expanded to Australia in 2011 and today aggregates 2000 restaurants and food retailers in the market.

It also has websites in 13 other countries, such as China, India, South Korea, Mexico, Sweden, and Russia.

It goes under various names in different markets, such as Pizza Portal, Hungry de, Online Pizza, Hungry House, and Superantojo.

Its latest round of $98 million in Series E financing is led by Insight Venture Partners.

The company says it grew revenue by more than 100 per cent last year and became globally profitable at the end of 2013.
