Albi acquires kitchenware supplier VGM

Albi-home-imageHome and kitchenware supplier, Albi, has acquired VGM, another key force in the kitchenware wholesale industry.

David Danziger, Albi’s managing director, said he believes the acquisition will bolster Albi’s position as the ‘one stop shop’ of Australia’s home goods market.

“We’re excited to have John, Meagan and other members of the VGM family join us at Albi. As there is little in the VGM range that clashes with our existing products, we can only together grow in strength,” Danziger said. “Not only will there be continuity, but expansion across new and existing product categories.”

Currently based in Sydney, VGM will shortly join Albi at its Melbourne base.

Albi, which started 31 years ago and today ranges more than 8000 skus across in-house, licensed and international brands – including Amalfi, Davis & Waddell and Rogue, among others, was founded in South Africa.

Investment holding company Coast2Coast Capital Group acquired Albi in June 2016, with a view to using the business as a platform for further sector expansion. VGM distributes a number of brands to the Australian retail market, from Europe, the US and Australia with a focus on premium kitchenware. Sought-after VGM brands include Savannah, Andre Verdier, Zeal, Dexter-Russell, Woll and Gefu.
