Amber upgrades warehouse facility

Amber, warehouseAustralian tile retailer, Amber Tiles, has signed a seven year lease for 10,000sqm of Blacktown Distribution Centre for a new headquarters and warehouse.

The group has moved into the Bessemer St, Blacktown site, owned by Goodman Group, a site previously occupied by Metcash for its main NSW grocery distribution centre servicing IGA Supermarkets, and other independent supermarkets.

Amber Tiles, which was previously based at Prospect, now supplies its 26 franchised and company-owned stores across NSW and the ACT, as well as three stores in Queensland from the Blacktown distribution centre.

The Blacktown warehouse contains 7000 pallets of tiles and pavers.

The group is experiencing strong growth with the current boom in home building and renovation across the eastern states, requiring larger premises located close to the major M7 and M4 motorways.

Amber Tiles has experienced an uplift in operational efficiencies with the relocation to the new premises.

Amber started in Sydney in 1973, and traded as a privately owned company store structure.

A management buyout in 1986 saw the Amber Group Australia formed, with its existing 12 stores in NSW and the ACT franchised.
