Aussie brands shine globally

Two Australian retail brands, Shoes of Prey and Myer have been named as finalists in the seventh annual World Retail Awards. Resource-19

Shoes of Prey’s first bricks and mortar store, a concession located within David Jones’ Elizabeth St Sydney store designed by retail strategy and innovation agency, The General Store, has been named in the under 1200sqm store design of the year category. Myer has been nominated for its Colour of Summer advertising campaign by Badjar Ogily.

The winners will be announced at the World Retail Awards ceremony on October 8 at Salle Wagram, Paris.

Shoes of Prey worked with The General Store to bring the Shoes of Prey brand to life, having previously operated online only.

The store is made almost entirely of Shoes of Prey materials and is dominated by a 2.4m flower sculpture made from Shoes of Prey shoes.

The table is finished with Shoes of Prey’s soft black leather and the chairs feature a range of materials include suede and stamped patent leather. The concession also has its own a signature scent and a custom-composed soundtrack.

“The physical space gives customers a new, enhanced, customer experience, allowing them to try sample shoes on, touch and smell the leathers and get great design advice from our customer happiness wonder-people i-store,” says Michael Fox, CEO of Shoes of Prey.

Matt Newell, strategy partner of The General Store said his company is passionate that retailers around the world should be turning to Australia for inspiration.

“We’re very excited to be recognised in this way.”
