Aussie shoppers more patient

Online, e-commerceAustralians are unhappier with their mobile shopping experience than those in other markets, yet they’re also more patient when it comes to shipping.

Seventy one per cent of Australians are satisfied with their online experience, according to a 3000 person global survey by UPS and ComScore.

Online retailers in the US, Mexico, Canada, and Europe trump this satisfaction figure, with 83, 78, 77, and 76 per cent online shopping ratings respectively.

Asia, which included China and Singapore, is markedly trailing behind other markets at 50 per cent.

Battle of the shipping

Australians are the second most patient market when it comes to the delivery of online goods, with the average respondent willing to wait up to 8.5 days.

Canadians are willing to wait the longest at 9.8 days, with Mexicans and Europeans the least patient, at 4.4 and 4.3 days respectively.

Online shoppers in the US are closer to Australian expectations at 7.2 days, perhaps in indication of the two nation’s greater land distance.

More than 60 per cent of Australian shoppers prefer to access retailers online via PC, smartphone, or tablets, as opposed to instore or by catalogue.

Seamless online checkout, free shipping, and variety mean the most to Australians online, with half saying they value sites that remember purchasing preferences and order history.

Forty four per cent of Australians have abandoned a cart because shipping details were listed too late in the ordering process.

Almost 40 per cent say the ability to buy online and pickup instore would increase their likelihood of shopping with a retailer.
