BioGuard Poolside has revealed its latest expansion plans that will see its retail network grow to nearly 100 outlets across Australia and New Zealand.

The South Australia-based retailer, which has been voted Best Pool Shop by Swimming Pool and Spa Alliance (SPASA) since 2004, has released a list of 37 locations where it plans to work with new and existing pool retailers to open BioGuard Poolside stores.

The retailer has earmarked six locations in Queensland, 10 locations in NSW, eight in Victoria, two in South Australia, one in the Northern Territory, three in Western Australia, one in Tasmania, and six in New Zealand.

BioGuard Poolside is a brand of BioLab Australia which has its Australian head office in Adelaide. BioLab was recently acquired from the Chemtura Corporation by US company, KIK Products.

BioGuard Poolside is already on track to reach 30 per cent growth over three years and say its sees a bright future for bricks and mortar pool stores despite pressure from online and big box retailers.

BioLab commercial director, Lindsay McGrath, said pool owners are still wanting specialist advice from pool professionals, something not available online or from a multi-national hardware store.

“Last year, we opened eight new stores in Australia and New Zealand and have five planned for the first half of this year,” said McGrath.

“The growth is partly fuelled by retailers who appreciate the BioGuard Poolside model as it provides all the benefits of being part of a franchise group without any fees. The only commitment required is the exclusive sale of BioGuard products.

“Store performance data shows that following conversion to a BioGuard Poolside store retailers can achieve average sales growth of more than 14 per cent.”
