Broadway lights up for Christmas

broadway xmas lightsThis Christmas Mirvac-owned, Broadway Shopping Centre, will engage and entertain shoppers with a kinetic light show hanging in the centre’s atrium.

Christmas concept ‘Luminous’, inspired by the UNESCO International Year of Light, is a light installation utilising kinetic lighting technology to create a matrix of 39 specifically constructed LED light spheres that are programmed to synchronise with a Christmas soundtrack.

Each sphere adjusts in height and luminance to create colourful shapes and light patterns set to Christmas tunes.

There are shows every half hour from 11am to close.

“We’re very excited to unveil our first-ever Christmas lights display, designed to create a sense of excitement as we head into the festive period,” said Broadway centre manager, Justine Saltmarsh.

Retailers in the centre will keep their doors open an additional hour from December 14, while Kmart will trade 24 hours a day hours until December 23.

“Broadway is the perfect shopping experience for Christmas, so we’re delighted to be able to offer the added benefit of extended shopping hours to help to make life easier for busy workers,” said Saltmarsh.

Broadway is currently undergoing a $55 million dollar redevelopment of its second level that will offer an expanded fashion and dining precinct.
