Cairns, Mackay call for retailers

departures, airport,Cairns and Mackay airports have announced plans to update their food and beverage offerings, a pursuit which will see many opportunities for budding retailers.

The news comes upon the release of a Request for Proposals by owner/operator of the airports, NQA (The North Queensland Airport group), seeking responses from interested  food and beverage operators by 7 September 2015.

Kevin Brown, CEO, NQA, said that the remodelling of the terminal space is driven by the imminent expiration of existing concessions over the next  few years.

“There may also be opportunities for some operators to commence earlier, working with NQA to develop new sites within its airport terminals” he added.

Brown cites value, choice and experience as the group’s central criteria in selecting potential retailers, as well as the ability to adapt to a constantly evolving market.

“All concepts will need to offer good value and choice for our customers and special consideration will be given to those that can reflect the local regions’ products and flavours.”

“Another important element will be the experience, drive and capability of the operators behind the proposals. We want to partner with the companies that can predict and respond to the latest trends, changing passenger profiles and travel habits to ensure they are delivering what our customers want”.
