Chemist Warehouse partners with US dental company

Australian pharmacy chain Chemist Warehouse is partnering with a US teledentistry company to bring ‘SmileShops’ to its stores.

Starting this month, SmileDirectClub will open SmileShops in select Chemist Warehouse locations in Victoria offering information and advice on orthodontic clear aligner therapy.

The US company, which launched in Australia in May this year, will have registered dentists and orthodontists on hand to prescribe and manage treatment plans.

Its clear aligners are custom-made from BPA-free plastic using 3D printers. The company ships the aligner treatment plan in an “all in one” box directly to the customer’s door, meaning it can offer reduced costs.

“At Chemist Warehouse, we pride ourselves on enhancing the customer experience with innovation, quality, and affordable services for our customers’ health, wellness, and beauty needs,” Chemist Warehouse director, Mario Tascone, said in a statement about the partnership on Friday.

“In collaboration with SmileDirectClub, we’re helping our customers get one step closer to a straighter smile that they love – and that they can afford.”

Kay Oswald, president of International at SmileDirectClub said the partnership is grounded in a “mutual commitment to an affordable, customer-first experience”.

The first SmileShops will be located at Chemist Warehouse stores in Epping Homemaker Centre, Box Hill Whitehorse Road and Karingal.
