the co-op, books, retailThe Co-op, Australia’s largest member-owner retailer, is giving its 1.8 million members $25 cash back.

Members who switch their old membership card for a new one will receive $25

The offer is open to all members regardless of when they joined.

The new Co-op membership card is a multi-function card with a zero monthly fee ME Bank EveryDay transaction acccount with Debit MasterCard. The program aims to establish a lifetime partnership between the Co-op and members, maintaining relevance long after university has finished.

Co-op is Australia’s largest campus retailer and cooperative, with 54 stores.

“The whole premise of this initiative is to reach out, reconnect and say thanks to our members. It’s as simple as that,” said Peter Knock, the Co-op CEO.

“All members are eligible to switch, whether they joined last year or all the way back in 1958. A Co-op member is a member for life, and we want to remind them of that.

“They can spend it on whatever they want, wherever they want,” he said.

The Co-op is contacting members via email to offer them their opportunity to switch to the new card. It has also set up a hotline and dedicated website for members without a current email address in the Co-op system. Alternatively, they can email at cooponline@coop.com.au
