The Co-op launches eBay store

ebayAustralia’s largest member-owned retailer, The Co-op, has launched its first eBay Australia store, ahead of plans to go global.

The Co-op eBay store, contains more than 2000 listings, with that number expected to increase to around 300,000 in 2015.

Currently, the store features the Co-op’s general merchandise range, with the most popular categories being toys and board games and health and beauty. Other categories include tech, music, clothing, and stationery, as well an a range of medical and science equipment.

The Co-op will incorporate books into the eBay store in 2015. Once the Co-op’s eBay Australia store is established, the retailer will launch onto the international stage with a store on eBay.com, a move that will further extend the retailer’s market reach.

“A large portion of our Members are young, tech savvy consumers,” said Peter Knock, CEO of The Co-op.

“As we are one of Australia’s largest online retailers, giving the Co-op a presence in the eBay marketplace is just a logical step for us to make as a business, and a further extension of our thriving online shop. It makes sense to make our range available on a platform that’s in line with our customer’s buying habits.”
