Cotton On snaps up Supré

supreCotton On Group has acquired fellow Australian fast fashion retailer, Supré.

The purchase is effective immediately, and sees Cotton On take ownership of the 157 Supré stores across Australia and New Zealand.

Supré was founded as a family-owned fashion business in 1984 by Hans van der Meulen in the inner Sydney suburb of Marickville, where its head office will remain. Cotton On Group is based in Geelong, Victoria.

According to an announcement by Cotton On CEO, Peter Johnson, there will be no changes to the Supre business as yet, with the company’s focus on maximising the opportunities of the Supré brand has in the lead up to Christmas.

Says Johnson: “In 2014 we will work with Hans and his team to understand Supré’s functions in greater detail and define how the Cotton On Group will partner with Supré to take this brand to the next level, strengthening its market position, store footprint and online presence”.

“The support of the Cotton On Group will allow us to take Supré to the next level, strengthening its market position, store footprint, and online presence.

“The opportunity to expand the brand internationally is an exciting one, particularly in the Asian and South African markets. With our world class supply chain, store design, staff training, development and logistics operations, we will maintain the integrity of Supré, whilst expanding it into markets globally,” said Johnson.
