David Jones adds Sportscraft to exclusive brand offering

David Jones announced an agreement with apparel group APG&CO on Friday, which will see Sportscraft, Jag, and Saba offerings added to the department stores growing roster of exclusive brands.

“David Jones is very proud to announce the exclusivity of Sportscraft alongside sibling APG&CO brands Saba and Jag,” David Jones general manager of womenswear and accessories Bridget Veals said.

“As we further evolve our customer offering, we look to brands such as these that share our commitment to Australian style, quality, and innovation.”

The brands will all be exclusive to David Jones from February 2020.

This announcement continues the ongoing push by both David Jones and Myer to gather exclusive brands, to create individual offers which can’t be replicated elsewhere in the market.

Sportscraft and Jag currently trade in Myer stores, though will be pulled as the agreement comes into effect. The Saba brand was pulled from Myer earlier in the year.

David Jones noted that it launched with over 65 exclusive womenswear brands this season, as well as having gained the exclusive rights to stablemate Country Road Group’s brands Country Road, Witchery, Mimco, Trenery and Politix.

Myer, however, has added more than 50 brands to its brands to its roster so far this year – a number it expects to increase to more than 90 by year’s end.

These exclusive brands include Acqua Di Parma from Italy, Jack London, Girls on Film, Oasis, Selected Femme, Selected Homme, DKNY, and Vero Moda, among others.

“As part of the customer first plan, Myer is constantly reviewing every aspect of its brand and product mix to ensure we are adding new, exclusive, productive and in-demand brands to our stores and online,” A Myer spokesperson said.

“Our focus has also been to align and deepen key strategic partnerships with some of Australia’s most valued and loved brands.”
