The new boutique store will house a bespoke merchandise offer tailored to the local demographic, and operate over four levels with a curated mix of fashion, beauty and accessories brands.

This will be David Jones’ second boutique format store, with the first set to open at Barangaroo in Sydney’s CBD on November 3.

The new store will also offer customers access to the department stores full collections via its click and collect service.

“James Street is one of Brisbane’s most vibrant shopping and lifestyle precincts making it an ideal location for our new boutique format,” said John Dixon, David Jones CEO.

“This dynamic format enables us to deliver an innovative store experience in a smaller footprint, with a customised fashion and beauty offering and specialised services,” Dixon said.

Dixon said the department store chain is excited to be further growing their footprint in Queensland.

The James Street store follows the opening of David Jones’ flagship at Pacific Fair and the announcement of their first Sunshine Coast store. The new format stores will also have specialised roles, including personal shoppers, advisors and experts. The retailer said the roles will facilitate a range of premium instore services including a personal shopping suite with complimentary bookings available online or instore, and a wide range of beauty services.
