Dick Smith cuts staff

dick smithElectronics retailer, Dick Smith, is cutting about 80 jobs from its support office as part of a drive to reduce costs.

Dick Smith said streamlining moves would save up to $12 million, but come at a cost of up to $7.9 million and “result in structural changes impacting approximately 80 positions within our support office”.

“We have taken the difficult decision to streamline our structure, impacting positions at the support office,” Nick Abboud, MD and CEO of Dick Smith said.

“In addition, we are implementing further enhancements to our supply chain. These include a long term contract with a new Australian and international logistics provider which will improve our inhouse efficiencies via an end to end approach to supply chain management,” he said.

It expects the changes to be implemented by June.
