Dollar range bound

2 dollar coins, moneyThe Australian dollar is hovering above 93 US cents amid a lack of market moving news or economic data.

At 0700 AEST on Tuesday, the local currency was trading at 93.25 US cents, up from 93.17 cents on Monday.

National Australia Bank senior currency strategist Emma Lawson said the Australian dollar was basically flat, despite a stronger greenback overnight.

Tuesday could be another quiet day for the currency, she said.

“The dearth of economic data in Australia continues, with nothing in near sight,” Lawson said.

“While we get the Reserve Bank of Australia minutes today, there isn’t anything new expected; these have been superseded by the Statement on Monetary Policy last week.”
