Eataly at home in Sydney

Eataly, food, retail, cafeItalian food concept, Eataly, is to make its home in Sydney, with Australian property company, Knight Frank, looking for suitable sites.

The high end Italian food market and restaurant precinct was founded in Turin, Italy in 2007, but opened its most famous location on New York’s Fifth Ave in the Flat iron district in August 2010.

There are now 27 Eataly stores around the world, 10 of which are in Italy.

The Eataly concept revolves entirely around Italian cuisine, with the New York flagship offering everything from fresh Italian cheese, coffee, gelato, fruit and vegetables, wine, seafood, pizza, pasta, meats, cooking utensils, books, and an Italian beer garden. It is unknown what features are planned for the Sydney venture.

Other new entrants to the Sydney CBD will be Uniqlo, set to open in the second half of 2014 at Pitt St Mall’s Mid City Centre, and Sephora, which will take over Esprit’s former Pitt St Mall tenancy.

H&M is also expected to announce the opening of a Sydney store too.
