eBay pops up in Westfield for Boxing Day

eBay Boxing Weekend Press PreviewOver the weekend online marketplace, eBay, popped up in three US Westfield shopping centres, allowing consumers to resell their unwanted Christmas gifts.

Over the Boxing Day weekend, December 26 to 27, consumers could visit the selling stations to list items themselves or enlist professional sellers from the eBay Valet service to handle everything from estimating the price to taking pictures, listing the item and safely shipping it to a new buyer.

Last year, eBay saw a spike in both new sellers and new listings in the days after Christmas, peaking the first Sunday in January.

“We’ve made it easy to sell in-person, online, on the eBay app or with the eBay Valet service over Boxing Weekend,” said Vincent Payen, head of consumer selling at eBay.

“Whether it was a designer sweater that didn’t fit, or an older tablet that has been replaced by a new one, there is always a buyer among our global community of 159 million for whom it will be perfect.”

The stations were located at Westfield San Francisco; Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus, New Jersey; and Westfield Hawthorn Centre, Chicago, Illinois.
