First Base opens first concept store in Bondi

first-baseAustralian sports and lifestyle brand, First Base, has opened its first concept store in Bondi, and, according to the brand’s founder, the shop has been well received by fans of the brand.

“We have been thinking about opening up a store for a while and it was about finding the right location at the right time. First Base was born in Bondi so having a concept store here makes sense,” said Alison Cotton, founder and designer of First Base.

“Since opening just over a week ago, we have doubled our online sales in store, which is a great response in such a short time,” said Cotton. “We have been selling out of leggings quicker than we can restock them and of course swimwear is flying out the door with many of styles already sold out this early in the summer season.”

Cotton said the business, which has been predominantly online since it was launched in 2013, has reached customers all over the world, and that opening the concept store was the next step in engaging with customers.

“It’s nice to connect with our customers on a personal level and get a real insight to how people respond to the brand,” she said.

firstbaseCotton was recently invited by fashion retailer Lawrence Lenihan to speak at NYC fashion on building a global brand in today’s marketplace. She said they have created a ‘cult brand and following’ that now extends from Bondi to over 100 stores around the world.

The First Base concept store will be open until March 2017 at the Pacific Bondi.
