Gold Coast centre’s refurb nears completion

Australia Fair RedevelopmentGold Coast shopping centre Australia Fair will complete the final stage of its $25 million revitalisation, with a new-look Coles set to open later this month.

Officially opening this Thursday, the revitalised Coles Australia Fair will deliver one of the most contemporary supermarket layouts in Australia complete with in-store specialty butchery, seafood and bakery sections.

The new entrance of Coles is already open to the public, while current refurbishment works on the major retailer will see its floor space expand from 3400sq m to 4222sq m in size, to unveil a spacious and modern store for shoppers.

Coles Australia Fair will mark the last phase of construction for the centre’s ground floor concourse and will signal the end of Australia Fair’s stage one redevelopment project.

With the finishing touches now underway, Australia Fair general manager Ramon Otten said the multi-million-dollar redevelopment project had been successful in revitalising the centre – transforming it into a contemporary shopping and lifestyle hub.

“Construction commenced on stage one of our revitalisation project late last year and has since seen Australia Fair transform into a vibrant shopping precinct,” Otten said.

“We are excited to be nearing completion on final construction works, and look forward to unveiling the newly renovated Coles Australia Fair to shoppers to create a contemporary shopping experience.

“Coles is one of the last major retailers to undergo an overhaul and will be greatly enhanced to boast one of the country’s most modern supermarket designs.

“This, together with the upgrades to the ground floor mall, will create a whole new look and feel to this part of the Centre.”

Otten said works on Australia Fair’s outdoor façade, fronting Scarborough Street, would also finish this month in line with the unveiling of Coles, with the Centre ensuring its new offerings are ready for shoppers to experience ahead of the Christmas rush.

“Our revitalisation project is well and truly on track, with the new-look Australia Fair being ready for shoppers to experience just in time for Christmas,” Mr Otten said.

“We also have a number of new stores opening their doors next month, in what has already been an incredible year of new retailers – some on a national scale – joining the Centre’s offerings.

“Shoppers can soon enjoy the likes of major retail brands JB Hi-Fi and Max Brenner, who will open their doors for trade next month, in addition to our already extensive list of new and major retailers currently operating at Australia Fair.”

Other new tenants who have recently opened at the Centre include Colette by Colette Hayman, Connor, Ted Ross, U Grill, Joy Stylist, Vintage Grind, Uncle Bills, Stellar Vietnamese Street Food , LiquorLand and Green Valley Butcher.

The Australia Fair redevelopment project adds to Southport’s rejuvenation, which is currently undergoing major upgrades ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
