H&M, Cos confirm new store openings

rsz_h&mFashion retailer, H&M, will open a third Sydney store located at Westfield Chatswood in February 2016.

It has been a busy month for the Swedish retailer, opening the doors to its Eastland and Pitt Street Mall stores at the end of October, while sister brand Cos opened its first Sydney store last week.

Cos, which is H&M’s second-largest brand, has confirmed it has plans to open a second Sydney store in 2016, however was unable to confirm the opening date or location. It will be the Swedish company’s third Australian store after arriving in Melbourne’s The Strand in November 2014.

H&M entered the Australian market last year and there are currently eight stores nationwide; Melbourne’s GPO and Eastland in VIC, Sydney Pitt Street and Macquarie Centre, North Ryde in NSW, Queen Street Mall, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre and Westfield Garden City in QLD as well as Lakeside Joondalup in WA.

Internationally, the company is set to enter the New Zealand market, opening its first H&M store at Auckland’s Sylvia Park in late 2016. It is also planning a major push across the Asian market, with steady expansion of its store network. H&M says it will open 70 stores in China in the year to November 30, taking its network up to just over 300.
