IGA fined

IGAA supermarket north of Perth has been fined for illegally employing an 11 year old girl to work as a shop assistant.

MMG WA, trading as the IGA supermarket in Jurien Bay, was fined $2250 in the Perth Industrial Magistrate’s Court for employing the girl to work five shifts on weekends in August.

Under the Children and Community Services Act, it is illegal for retailers to employ children under the age of 13.
