Inside Retail Weekly Issue 2076

IRWA sneak peak at what’s featured in this week’s issue of Inside Retail Weekly….

2016 has kicked off in a hurry, with Dick Smith announcing it had gone into administration on January 5. Despite boasting about its growth prospects and profitability at an investor forum just a few months ago in October, the writing has been on the wall for Dick Smith for some time. You can read about the ongoing post-mortem in this week’s issue of Inside Retail Weekly, the first issue of IRW for 2016.

Just before this issue was finalised came the news from Woolworths that it would finally bite the bullet and close its Masters chain of home improvement stores – on the very same day that Wesfarmers announced an acquisition strategy to launch its rampantly successful Bunnings chain in the UK. The polarising fortunes of Bunnings and Masters are also analysed in this week’s issue.

We also take a look at the newly redeveloped Westfield Hurstville, which is already seeing the benefits of its new community focus.

You’ll find all of this, and much more, in Inside Retail Weekly Issue 2076.
