Lagardere to operate stores at Gold Coast Airport

at-airport-bannerLagardere Travel Retail has been appointed to operate five Travel Essentials stores at the Gold Coast Airport for the next five years, with its Aelia Duty Free concession remaining until 2018.

The travel retailer will operate the News, Convenience and Souvenir sites in the terminal starting this month. The group currently operates NewsLink, Hub, Discover, M.A.C Cosmetics, Victoria’s Secret Beauty & Accessories, tech2go and Aelia Duty Free at the Gold Coast Airport.

“We were thrilled to receive the news our offer was successful,” said Matthieu Mercier, Pacific Region CEO of Lagardere Travel Retail.

“Having operated in Gold Coast Airport since 2002, to be selected again as Gold Coast Airport’s partner of choice signals a long, confident and successful partnership in this fast-growing airport.”

According to Mercier, the deal will bring to Gold Coast Airport new and innovative concepts, as well as refreshing some of their successful concepts currently at the Airport operated by the group.

A stepped change will be introduced into the store design in collaboration with Gold Coast Airport.

Marion Charlton, Gold Coast Airport chief operating officer, said the decision to award Lagardere Travel Retail was made following a strongly contested RFP process.

“We are confident, based on our experience with Lagardere Travel Retail, that a strong mix of local flavour will be incorporated within the stores upon refurbishment completion early next year,” Charlton said.
