Luxury retailer opens in David Jones

A-EsqueMelbourne accessories brand, A-Esque, is expanding domestically and internationally after nabbing deals with David Jones and international retailer, The Lane Crawford Group.

The brand, founded by Amanda Briskin-Rettig, specialises in high quality leather goods and has opened two concessions within department store David Jones. The brand is also concurrently working on a bespoke range for cult Melbourne boutique Le Louvre.

The accessories retailer today opened a concession in David Jones on Elizabeth Street Sydney, following on from last week’s Bourke Street Melbourne opening.

Briskin-Rettig was the founder of accessories giant Mimco and established A-Esque in 2012 after selling Mimco in 2007.

“The inclusion of A-Esque into Lane Crawford, David Jones and Le Louvre are each an ambition I’ve held for the brand since inception,” said Briskin-Rettig. “The dynamic style and approach possessed by each of these locally and internationally renowned high-end stores is an important landscape to be a part of.

“The investment and belief in brand development and representation of brand character within the environments is so strong that I felt each of these alignments was the right move for A-Esque.”

A-Esque is designed and manufactured from an atelier in Richmond, Melbourne. Local leather artisans are employed to handcraft the leather bags, wallets and accessories.

The retailer said it caught the attention of Asian retail giant, Lane Crawford, for championing an ‘anti-brand’ spirit, with the first of three collections being rolled out this month.
