New look NORA

keyboard, e-commerce, online The National Online Retailers Association (NORA) has recruited four new retailers, ahead of next week’s meeting of state treasurers on the GST free threshold.

The Iconic CEO, Patrick Schmidt; Dick Smith’s director of omni-channel retailing, Steve Toth; Super Retail’s GM of marketing and comms, Kevin McAulay; and Lisa Powell, head of retail practice, Amblique, will replace four outgoing NORA members, including founding directors Michael Fox from Shoes of Prey and Ozsale’s Carl Jackson.

Paul Greenberg, NORA chairman, told The Australian Financial Review online and offline retailers need to work together to improve education, training, and skills development across the sector.

“It’s no use having a civil war when the Amazons are at the gate,” Greenberg said.

The new recruits will join current board members John Winning, CEO of Winning Group, and Mark Coulter, co-founder and principal, ArdenPoint Group.

“Everyone recognises the size of the prize is way more important than our respective slice. We have to present a unified face,” Greenberg said.

“If we’re looking for a fight it’s really about retail responding to the global world versus any internal competition.”
