PayPal appoints new MD

new paypal logoLibby Roy has been appointed VP and MD for PayPal Australia, effective immediately.

She replaces Jeff Clementz, who was VP, MD of PayPal Australia for three years. Clementz is returning to the US to take up a new role as VP, compliance operational excellence in global operations.

Roy joins PayPal with a background in financial services firms including AMP and American Express.

In her role as VP and MD, Roy will lead PayPal’s Australian business while also sitting on the Australian board and serving as an executive committee member of the PayPal APAC leadership team.

Rohan Mahadevan, SVP and GM for PayPal Asia Pacific said Roy’s arrival coincides with an important time for the company.

“This is an exciting time for Libby to join us as we strengthen our focus on merchants and consumers. Alongside her deep knowledge of technological and digital disruptions, her stakeholder management skills and ability to build strong leadership teams will be valuable as she leads the highly engaged local team to drive the continued profitable growth of our Australia business.

“She will play a critical role in identifying new opportunities and further entrenching PayPal as the leading mobile and online payment service in Australia.”

Roy said she is excited to join PayPal, given its leadership within the rapidly evolving digital payments ecosystem.
