Qantas launches pop-up store at Melbourne Airport

Qantas has opened its first pop-up store, the Frequent Flyer Rewards Room, at Melbourne Airport’s domestic Terminal One.

Members can shop a range of popular items in-store, such as Bose’s noise cancelling headphones and the latest Fitbit and Lego sets, and they can earn 100 Qantas points just by walking into the store and providing their frequent flyer details.

Customers can take their purchases with them or have bulkier items delivered to their door at a later date.

“Melbourne is one of the busiest airport terminals in our network – and the city has a reputation for being Australia’s shopping capital – so it made sense to choose Melbourne for our first airport store,” said Olivia Wirth, Qantas Loyalty CEO.

Qantas loyalty program members will earn six points per dollar spent in-store when they pay for their purchases with their credit or debit card, and they can ‘double dip’ if they use a Qantas Points-earning credit card. They can also use their frequent flyer points to pay.

“We know our members love to shop, so we expect the ‘points for window shopping’ will encourage our customers to visit the store to talk to one of our experts about how they can make the most of their membership or indulge in some retail therapy,” Wirth said.

The pop-up also features an ‘experience zone’ where Dyson is offering demonstrations of its hair dryer. And staff members will be on hand to provide tips to members on ways to earn and use points.

The store will be open until June 30,
