Retail sales continue positive trend

Inside Retail presents the Australian Retail Index.

The index gives a quick overview of retail statistics in four key categories; fashion and accessories, furniture and homewares, sporting and recreational, and other.

Key retail statistics are shown weekly, with yearly comparisons available.

In very encouraging news, retail sales have shown continued positive growth over the last week.

Overall sales recorded slight growth of 0.12 per cent, which builds on the previous weeks result of 0.52 per cent growth.

While still small numbers, retailers across the country will be happy to see a tw0 week run of good sales data, given the volatility of the four weeks prior to this.

The fashion and accessories and sporting and recreational goods sectors were the big winners with 3.03 per cent and 3.98 per cent growth respectively.
