Revamped Garden City open for business

Gardencity1The final stage of Westfield Garden City’s $400 million redevelopment is now complete, with the Brisbane centre opening its new fashion precinct over the weekend.

Westfield Garden City is the first redevelopment to be completed under the newly formed Scentre Group.

The centre is now 140,000sqm, increasing by almost 50 per cent, with more than 430 major and specialty retailers, more than 100 of which are new to the centre since the redevelopment commenced in June 2013.

Retailers opening in the centre include Myer, Nine West, Seed, French Connection, Blue Illusion, Lonsdale, R.M Williams, David Jones, Target, K-Mart, Big W, Woolworths, Coles, Event Cinemas, and Harvey Norman.

The centre also boasts two new dining precincts, an upgraded fresh food offer, and an additional 1400 car park spaces.

Scentre Group CEO, Peter Allen, said the new Westfield Garden City offers a new shopping, entertainment, social, and dining experience for the community in Brisbane’s south.

“Undoubtedly, the new Westfield Garden City is now a destination. It brings the best fashion, exciting new entertainment including new interactive digital installations and two unique food destinations; the outdoor, resort style Town Square and 8 Street, an Asian laneway filled with hawker-style operators,” Allen said.

“This redevelopment now consolidates the centre’s position as one of Brisbane’s most important retail destinations. Situated in a major commercial centre at one of the city’s busiest transport hubs, Westfield Garden City with over 500,000 people in its trade area has one of the largest shopper bases amongst Westfield centres in Australia.”

All chain stores! - Wow, Westfield just doesn't know how to step outside the box! How utterly boring for Queensland reply

Exactly Jim. Look at Miranda and Macquarie in Sydney. Gap, H & M and other retailers and what do we get - boring same old, same old. A terrible waste and a let down after how good Indooroopilly is. reply
