police, police tape, police lineA man who allegedly wielded a blade at staff at a Perth supermarket has been charged with armed robbery.

Police said the 28 year old man carried several items to the check out on Saturday evening and brandished a blade in an attempt to leave the Rivervale supermarket without paying.

Another staff member tried to stop the man by grabbing the shopping bags, and the man used the blade to threaten the worker, police said.

After a brief struggle, the man ran from the store empty-handed and police later found him nearby.
