Sydney centre adds six retailers to its mix

Miniso-store-front-The-GaleriesSix new retailers have been added to the tenancy mix at The Galeries shopping centre in the Sydney CBD, with a raft of stores opened throughout April and early May.

Headlining the list of latest additions at the CBD centre is Japanese variety retailer, Miniso, which aims to open up to 300 stores across Australia.

Selling fashion, cosmetics, accessories and homewares, the Chinese-headquartered group, which tries to position itself as Japanese, already has three stores in Sydney – in Bondi Junction, Chatswood and Hurstville – and has instructed retail leasing agents to find a further seven sites in Sydney and 10 in Melbourne.

Other new stores at the centre include Nudie Jeans, which features denim with sustainability at the forefront of its design concerns; T Totaler and The Grounds, Newtown local T Totaler will open its first expansion at The Galeries, and renowned Instagram and culinary favourite The Grounds will open its much anticipated CBD branch.

The expansion of new stores will reside alongside retailers Incu, Gorman, Gentsac, MUJI, Books Kinokuniya, Lotus Restaurant and Yayoi.

IPOH Group, which owns the centre, says the additions are part of a broader strategy to offer a specialised offering across fashion, food and lifestyle.

“We are proud to welcome a diverse line up of new stores to The Galeries this month, including The Grounds, Nudie Jeans and Miniso,” said IPOH Group marketing manager, Melissa Prpic. “Each retailer has been carefully selected for its unique proposition, as we continue to refine The Galeries bespoke hub of hard to find, cutting edge retail concepts.”

The retail expansion will be followed by fashion and artistic activities.

A VIP shopping experience will land in the precinct from May 19 to 20 with interactive pop-ups by retailers at the centre.

The Galeries Emerging Artist Exhibition will run from June 1. In partnership with Art Month Sydney, the centre will provide a platform for up-and-coming creatives to showcase their work with the chance to win a mentorship and cash sponsorship prize.
