Target expands outlet footprint

Discount chain Target will open its second, and soon to be largest outlet store  this week on the Gold Coast. Opening this Thursday, the 1300sqm site is located at Harbour Town Gold Coast and follows a range of openings in the centre over the past 12 months including Hugo Boss, Coach, Tommy Bahama, 2 Chillies, Swarovski, International Watch Station, Flower, and Reebok.

Gary Webb, manager of Harbour Town Gold Coast Centre says the Target Outlet is the first on the Coast and will add a new dimension to the centre’s already diverse retail mix.

“Target is a widely recognised brand and its price points resonate with everyday people. The outlet store aims to help the hip pocket with even more affordable price tags,” Webb says.

“Gold Coasters and tourists have responded well to the new brands offering quality products at discount prices with Harbour Town Gold Coast showing excellent growth in terms of sales and visitation. We currently welcome in excess of eight million shoppers per year.”

Target Outlet at Harbour Town is a first for the Gold Coast and follows the initial Target Outlet store opening at Harbour Town’s sister centre in Adelaide in 2012.

Adding to the tenancy mix, Dimmey’s will also re-open in its former location on Thursday with a new streamlined look and will offer the same range of discount variety products for which they have become renowned.

Webb says the opening of Target Outlet and re-opening of Dimmey’s this week – along with the other big-name stores in the past 12 months – cements the notion that factory outlet stores are more relevant than ever with today’s focus on price.

“Target Outlet will open adjacent to the new-look Dimmey’s, creating an exceptional offer for shoppers looking for value without compromising quality,” he says.
