Uniqlo moves into fourth Aussie state

UNIQLO Werribee 1Global fashion chain Uniqlo has announced the next phase of its Australian expansion, today confirming the opening of its first store in Western Australia at Murray Street Mall.

Due to open in Autumn/Winter 2018, the store will span 1,290sqm and house the retailer’s full line-up of apparel for men, women, kids and babies.

Uniqlo Australia said it believed finding the right locations had helped the retailer’s Australian expansion.

“We’ve been growing our Australian operations steadily since opening in Melbourne in 2014,” said Kenji Tsuji, Chief Operating Officer, Uniqlo Australia.

“Perth is our fifteenth store in Australia. We are extremely proud to expand our bricks and mortar offering through such a wonderful store and to serving customers in Western Australia.”

The Plaza Arcade location marks the retailers entrance into a fourth state, in addition to Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland – which it said underlined the brand’s commitment to growing Australia as a key market in the Asia-Pacific region.

On Wednesday, Uniqlo announced a special edition collaboration line with Finnish design house Marimekko, known worldwide for its original prints and colours.
