WA shopping centre’s refurb approved

Belmont Forum - Dining Precinct 1Belmont Forum shopping centre in WA has been given council approval to proceed with a $65m refurbishment of the centre.

The first stage of building works has commenced on a new dining precinct with further stages to commence later this year.

Setback from the road with alfresco offering and adjacent to the 10 screen cinemas complex, the dining precinct is due for completion and expected to launch early 2017.

“We are delighted that approval has been granted for this significant $65m million upgrade,” said Ross Robertson, chief executive officer, Perron Group who own the centre.

“Belmont Forum has been a long term investment for the Perron Group and these upgrades signify the importance of the retail asset within the Perron portfolio,” Robertson said.

“Our focus is to ensure that Belmont Forum continues to evolve and meet the changing needs of the local community and ensure that Belmont Forum remains the shopping and lifestyle destination of choice.”

Later this year works will commence on the construction of a new Coles supermarket and fresh food precinct, complimented by internal mall refurbishments including lighting, ceiling treatments and columns whilst updating the centre’s external facade with modern features.

“We are excited to be developing a new full-range supermarket with the latest features and a broader range of products at great value to serve the local community,” said Mark O’Connor, state general manager, Coles.

“The new supermarket at Belmont Forum will replace our existing store and create additional jobs locally when it opens.”

In the last 12 months, there have been a number of significant upgrades to the Belmont Forum, including the launch of supermarket giant Aldi, a full refurbishment of Kmart, all new amenities throughout the centre including private parenting suites.

The confirmed timeline for the staged works will be following the appointment of a builder.
