Westfield Tour open for bookings

Westfield tour 2013The annual Westfield World Retail Study Tour 2014 is now open for bookings.

To take place over 16 days in May 2014, the tour will visit five cities, including San Francisco, Seattle, Stockholm, London, and Barcelona.

Attendees on the tour will hear from more than 50 speakers, visit hundreds of stores, and share countless stories and observations with fellow retail passionates.

Known within the industry as a mini retail MBA, the tour is a learning experience for anyone involved in the retail industry in 2014.

The cities:

San Francisco

First stop on the tour is San Francisco, the intersection of retail and technology today. Downtown, you’ll walk Union Square and surrounds and see both flagship stores and malls, including Williams-Sonoma’s multi-storey store, and Westfield San Francisco Centre.

Half an hour out of town, you’re in the heart of Silicon Valley, with leading tech companies from Apple to Cisco Systems. On the Study Tour, you’ll get a taste of the best of retail today, and where it’s headed.

Seattle

Seattle is a surprise packet to many retail observers, because so many of the world’s leading retailers call the Pacific Northwest city their home. Here you’ll find Amazon, Starbucks, Costcoand Nordstrom to name a few.

Delegates will take in the Pike Place Markets, which has featured in many a movie, and is the place where flying fish redefine the meaning of retail theatre. Seattle is also a tech haven – you’ll tour Microsoft’s headquarters as well as high tech concept store, Hointer.

Stockholm

Stockholm is the home of H&M and Ikea and you’ll visit both their stores and their head offices and hear their stories.

Attendees will also come across some of the most inspiring apparel retail on the planet, including Odd Molly and Acne Jeans (inside the bank where the Stockholm Syndrome took place – check out the vault which is now a change room).

London

In London you’ll see some of the most imaginative retail concepts anywhere – from Dover Street Market to Harvey Nichols. Regent and Oxford streets have an array of incredible retail, including Burberry’s new flagship; the store of the future.

Oxford St is now bookended by two of the most high volume stores in the world, Primark. The new Tottenham Court Rd store is even more impressive to its Oxford St Store.

Naturally you’ll get VIP guided tours of Westfield London and Westfield Stratford, now in the top 10 shopping destinations in the UK.

While in London, you’ll also enjoy guided tours to some of the best high street shopping in the world, including Old and New Bond St, Borough Market, and Covent Garden, where we stay at The Savoy Hotel.

Barcelona

Barcelona is a celebration of retail. Here you’ll find the world’s best examples of Zara, and all the Inditex brands – including Bershka, Oysho, Stradivarius and Uterque.

This is also Camper town – check out not only numerous innovative Camper shoe stores, but also Hotel Casa Camper.

The Tour will also take you off the beaten path into the backstreets of Barcelona, then along the famous Las Ramblas (inspiration for Santana Row, which you’ll visit in San Francisco), and into La Boqueria, the centuries old food market.
