Woolworths’ “next generation store” opens in QLD

Woolworths-Ascot_1Known internally as “Woolworths 3.0”, the new store draws on elements of the Marrickville Metro store opened in Sydney earlier this year but with some added features for Brisbane shoppers.

The store includes a drive-through service area with dedicated parks to collect online shopping. By using an app to alert the store you are on the way, shoppers can park in the designated area and not need to get out of the car. This feature is expected to be a favourite for busy parents.

With a focus on Australian fresh food and convenient shopping solutions, customers will be able to enjoy a range of features including flame-roasted chickens, artisan breads and made-to-order cakes from the full production bakery

Woolworths Queensland State Manager, Matthew Franich said: “Woolworths Racecourse Village Ascot marks the next evolution of our journey to create a neighbourhood food store for Queensland customers. It provides a great shopping experience for our local customers, with good prices on products they want, a great fresh offer and the convenience they are looking for.”

As well as the full production bakery, customers can choose from more than 90 hand-picked cheeses from around the globe in the new cheese cave, 100% Australian meat from the in-store butchery, or avail of the fresh fish from the fish market.

The supermarket has also introduced “Ready to Create” meal kit bags similar to Hello Fresh and Marley Spoon. This is the first meal kit concept available at a mainstream Australian retailer.
