Woolworths opens ‘modern stores’ at Crows Nest and Mascot

WoolworthsWoolworths launched two new stores last week in Sydney, asserting that local residents will see some of Australia’s ‘most modern supermarkets.’

Woolworths Crows Nest, located at the corner of Alexander and Burlington Streets, is part of a $52 million investment with Woolworths’ Mascot store the result of a $6.2 million investment.

The 3200sqm Mascot store employs 140 people, while Woolworths Crows Nest employs 115 and is set over 3800sqm.

The Crows Nest store includes a butcher, delicatessen, fresh sushi bar and has 22 checkouts. Mascot has a a fresh sushi bar, on-site liquor store and 26 checkouts.

Both stores will ‘focus on wellness’ with the Woolworths Macro range including free range, ‘free from’ and organic choices.

“Our aim is to connect customers directly with our fresh food producers,” said Anil Prakash, store manager, Woolworths Mascot. “With 100 per cent of fresh meat and 96 per cent of fresh fruit and veg sourced from Australia, our store will highlight the wonderful seasonality of produce along with tips for the best uses for products.”

Woolworths celebrated the launch of both stores with donations to their respective local communities, including cheque presentations to Mascot Public School, North Sydney Girls High School and North Sydney High School Boys. The Crows Nest store also made a donation to Phoenix House Foundation.
