Pharmacy 4 Less partners with JD to expand China operations

Pharmacy 4 Less is teaming up with JD Worldwide to expand its cross-border operations in China, after recognising changes in international e-commerce trends.

The new partnership will allow Pharmacy 4 Less to utilise JD’s warehouse and logistics capabilities in China, which will improve delivery times and provide a better shopping experience for Chinese consumers.

“Australian discount pharmacy holds such importance to the Chinese consumer and we look forward to the opportunities that are ahead with JD,” Pharmacy 4 Less chief executive Feras Karem said.

“We know there is demand in China for quality Australian products but our biggest limiting factor to date has been our delivery time.”

According to Karem, parcels currently can take anywhere up to three weeks to clear customers and reach international consumers, while access to JD’s warehouses will cut delivery times to “a matter of hours or days”.

JD Worldwide business development director Jeff Tian said the JD platform has already helped businesses from all over the world reach Chinese consumers, and that the it looks forward to developing the relationship with Pharmacy 4 Less in 2019.

The partnership continues the trend of Australian businesses targeting the Chinese community, with brands such as Seafolly, RM Williams, Crumpler and Lorna Jane eyeing China as a key market for international expansion.

In a “company changing event”, Australian diagou marketplace AuMake recently revealed its own partnership with JD, which will create a new omnichannel platform for Australian and New Zealand brands to reach Chinese customers.
